Synopsis Ever since Eugene was forced to sell part of his farm land in a compulsory purchase order (CPO) to facilitate a new government proposed motorway, his life has never been the same. He now struggles to fill his once busy days ever since his farm succumbed to urban sprawl. This film examines the sacrifices made in the name of development and the effect it has on the lives it touches. At its heart is a tale of old versus new, loss and friendship.

Mairtin de BARRA’s mission is to make films that touch you emotionally, by making you laugh or cry. His first short film has won awards at 14 festivals worldwide. In 2011, he directed the 6 part documentary series The Club, following a ladies football team in Ireland. In 2013 his debut feature film, Beat Girl, will be released in cinemas in Ireland, UK and Portugal, with further territorial deals to follow.
