A Taste Of Whale
- The Life of Action-ists
Trailer | |
Program Note | Faroe Island, approximately 320 North of Scotland with a population of 50,000 slaughters 700 pilot whales annually. This ritual called the ‘Grind’ is a 600 year-old tradition that an animal rights group finds cruel and oppose to. Faroese locals cast doubts on the mass slaughter system while refusing to rescind their tradition that started out as a means for survival. Both parties stand their ground until an environmental scientist steps in. As the film ends with a surprising conclusion it takes the issue of meat-eating to another level of discourse rather than making it a yes or no contest. |
